Title "The telling of a tale"
Artist Karl Witkowski (1860-1910) Poland/ New Jersey

Description Born in Poland and lived and painted in New Jersey in 1800's till his death in 1910. He was a contemporary of John George Brown and shows in his depictions of street urchins and children for which he specialized. He studied art in the Academie Julian in Paris in late 1800's and exhibited in the National Academy of Design. His art is displayed in museum and private collections across the US and Europe. This piece has been lightly cleaned and is ready for hanging.
It is presented in a finish corner French style frame consistent to the period.

Description Pritchard was born in New Zealand, and studied at Aukland Academy of the Arts and the Elam school. He moved to California in 1906 and lived in New York and California till his death. He studied in Paris at the Julian academy and van der Heidt in Amsterdam and traveled Europe and United States and Canada painting along the way. This harbor scene is nicely detailed and done on fine laid paper circa 1890-1910, it is presented in a nice walnut and gold frame of the era, and has been conservation framed and is ready to hang.

Description Hollis Holbrook was born in Mass. in 1909, he attended and graduated Mass School of art in 1934 and Graduated Yale school of fine art in 1936. He started teaching at University of Florida and was was the first chair of the Art department. He was Art Professor until his retirement in 1978. He has a large mural in the Smathers library at UF and Works in the Smithsonian Museum. He specialized in genre and figure pieces. He painted in egg tempera and oils. His works are in private collections and Museums across the US.
