Description

Beautiful Parisian street scene with a beautiful woman in the foreground by well listed New York artist Pal Fried. The painting has been cleaned and is ready for hanging. Frame is a carved wood gilding with painted finish of the period. Fried was born in Hungary and studied there and also in Paris under Claude Monet and Lucien Simone. He was influenced by Renoir and Degas. He traveled the world and painted and eventually ended up in Hollywood. He painted celebrities including Marilyn Monroe and the Gabor sisters. In New York he painted Senator and Governor Herbert Lehman and Will Rogers and other notables. He loved painting beautiful young women and Parisian street scenes. His works are in collections world wide and highly sought after by collectors.

George Gay. Gay was born in Wisconsin and also lived and worked in Chicago and New York. He was a pupil of George Brown and Henry Eakins in Chicago. He exhibited in the National Academy of Design, Boston Art Club, and locally through out East Coast. He was a master in water color and did many seascapes, landscapes and snow scenes along the Easter Coast. Well listed and highly sought after watercolorist. The artwork is circa early 1900's with a line mat and custom finished corner Whistler style frame. The artwork is ready to hang.
